A handsome 19th-century European pine tallboy chest of drawers, distinguished by its unusually tall, architectural proportions and beautifully timeworn surface. The chest is configured with two smaller drawers over three generous full-width drawers, each fitted with brass drop handles and individual key escutcheons. A particularly charming detail is the hand-worked geometric carving running beneath the projecting top and along the lower plinth, giving the otherwise restrained case a subtle folk-art quality. The solid pine top has developed exceptional character through generations of use, with scattered scratches, marks, tonal variation and a warm honey-colored patina that speaks beautifully to its age. Rounded front uprights and a substantial plinth base complete the form.
