A beautifully rustic set of seven Spanish Colonial armchairs dating to the 18th century, crafted from richly patinated walnut and retaining their original hand-worked leather sling seats and backs. The chairs exhibit the restrained yet substantial form associated with Iberian and Colonial Spanish furniture, featuring straight square legs, broad arm supports, and decorative hand-forged brass or bronze tacks with verdigris patination.

The aged leather has developed a beautiful surface character over centuries of use, displaying the wear, color variation, and soft undulation that collectors seek in authentic period examples. Carved aprons add a subtle decorative element beneath the seats, while the sturdy walnut frames showcase traditional mortise-and-tenon construction.

Sets of period Spanish Colonial seating are increasingly difficult to find, particularly in groups large enough to furnish a dining room or library. These chairs work equally well in traditional, Mediterranean, English country house, or modern organic interiors where their sculptural forms and historic materials create a striking contrast.

Provenance: Acquired from the estate of the distinguished DuPont family, one of America's most prominent collecting families. Known for furnishing their historic residences with exceptional European and American antiques, the DuPonts assembled collections celebrated for their quality, authenticity, and historical importance. This notable provenance further enhances the appeal of these rare 18th-century Spanish Colonial armchairs.
