Antique American Diamond Lattice Quilt c. 1880-1915 | Hand Pieced & Hand Quilted Scrap Quilt | Primitive Folk Art Textile
An antique American quilt dating to approximately 1880–1915, featuring a striking Diamond Lattice pattern constructed from dozens of period shirting, plaid, and dress fabrics.
Entirely hand pieced and hand quilted, this quilt showcases the resourcefulness and artistry of early American quiltmakers. Bold red lattice bands create dramatic oversized diamonds across the surface, while tiny pieced blocks and scrap fabrics provide beautiful texture and visual interest.
This is a quilt in a quilt; when the original quilt became too worn, it was repurposed as the batting for this darling quilt. The quilt features original checked cotton backing and displays the honest wear expected from a textile over a century old, including fabric thinning, scattered losses, and age-related softness. These signs of use add to its authentic folk-art character and tell the story of a quilt that was cherished for generations.
A wonderful piece for display, collecting, or farmhouse-inspired interiors.
