This striking variation of the classic Irish Chain pattern features colorful cross-shaped chains scattered across a crisp white ground, framed by a bold cobalt-blue sawtooth border. Many of the fabrics appear consistent with the feed sack and printed cotton textiles popular during the Depression and post-war years, giving the quilt wonderful visual character and historical charm.
Fine diagonal hand quilting creates texture and movement throughout the surface, while the playful assortment of prints showcases the creativity and resourcefulness of its maker.
