An exceptional example of early American utility furniture, this beautifully proportioned two-part New England kitchen cupboard dates to the late 18th century, circa 1780, and reflects the practical craftsmanship of rural colonial joinery.
Constructed in solid, wide-plank pine. The cabinets feature a pair of raised-panel doors that open to broad storage with deep shelving.
Hand-worked details throughout: joinery and wooden turn-latches executed by hand, simple applied moldings on the panels, and a rich, time-developed surface that speaks to generations of use.
The warm oxidized brown finish is a testament to age rather than stain and highlights the pieces rustic authenticity.
Good condition with losses to the upper right crown, bottom cupboard latch, and damage to one of the hand forged hinges on the left lower cabinet door.
50.5 wide x 83.5 high x 24 deep
