A wonderfully rustic handmade pine farmhouse dining table with a broad plank top, substantial turned legs and a richly timeworn painted base.
The rectangular pine top has been intentionally left full of character, displaying pronounced grain, knots, scratches, color variation and layers of wear that give the surface the appearance of a well-used country work table. Its warm honey-brown tones contrast beautifully with the deep oxblood/burgundy painted apron and legs below.
Four generously proportioned hand-turned baluster legs provide a particularly strong silhouette, with repeated rings and elongated vase-shaped turnings reminiscent of traditional 19th-century farmhouse tables. The simple apron and generous overhang keep the overall form relaxed and unfussy.
The table has the tactile, imperfect quality that makes vernacular country furniture so appealing—the surface is meant to show its construction, history and wear rather than appear overly restored. An excellent everyday dining table, kitchen table or work table, equally at home in an English-country, New England farmhouse or layered contemporary interior.
