A post-impressionist interior still life built on a cream tabletop against a deep teal and umber ground. At left, a mixed bouquet of pink cabbage roses and yellow blooms in a pale green faceted vase; at center right, a tall turquoise bottle beside a small tumbler and a red-labeled canister; two yellow-green apples in the foreground casting hard black shadows. A gilt chair back and a window with blue glazing bars anchor the middle distance, tipping the picture plane forward in the Cézanne manner. Painted in thick, dragged impasto with the drawing scratched back through the wet paint (sgraffito), including the signature. School of Paris idiom, likely 1930s–1950s, Spanish or Latin American hand.
Silvered/cerused wood frame. Image 14.5" H x 17.5" W; framed 19" H x 22" W x 1.75" D. Provenance: Central Park South estate, New York.
